Everyone's a critic...

So, I have to say that The Time Traveler's Wife was enjoyable because I read the book. It was really neat to see what I imagined while reading acted out before me. BUT, I don't think I would watch it again or want to own it or recommend it to others who have not read the book. Even those who have read it will inevitably be disappointed because so much of the depth of the story was taken out for Hollywood appeal. So it goes....

It was fun to hang out with my sis though and to share it with her since we both knew the story. This was actually my first experience in watching a film where I had already read the book prior to viewing it. This has never happened and I really liked it, even though I know that you can't get around a little disappointment...the written word is always better!

I have been inspired lately to finish the Harry Potter series. I am on book 3 and I really want to finish them all before the next movie comes out. I recently saw a 20/20 episode on the life of J.K. Rowling...very inspiring. I didn't finish it because I got suspicious that she was going to talk about the last book and I didn't want anything to be spoiled.

Ok, I am off to sink my teeth into a new book I requested from the library. It's called Radical Hospitality: Benedict's Way of Love and I am very intrigued by it. I'll let you know what I think. I hope it is good because I really enjoy hosting guests, but would like to learn more. We'll see...

I'm glad you're having a nice weekend :) I'm sad you wouldn't recommend the time traveler's wife movie - I haven't read it, but I do wanna see the film!
I am on book six of Harry Potter... I wish I'd read the book before the movie on that one...but its really good. Let me know when you get there! I read that series in a very strange fashion. I did 1-3 & stopped on book 4 b/c it bored me. I eventually went back, skimmed 4 & skipped 5 & now I'm reading #6. I can hear the super fans groaning as they read this! haha.

I miss you! call me when you get the time :) xoxo

@ Sarah
You haven't finished the Harry Potter books yet?!?!?!?! *Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince* is so much better in book form (not that the movie is horrible or anything, but, the book is just that good). And, let me say, book 7 is great (my favorite of the series, actually; not perfect, but, ultimately, a great end to the series).

@ Jess
You skipped *Order of the Phoenix*? Tsk, tsk. You got to go back and read that one.

Hey, Derrick! Thanks for stopping by! I am loving the Harry Potter books I just started *Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire*. The Prisoner of Azkaban was SO GOOD!

How's Wisconsin?! We really want to come visit you when you are all settled...

I really liked *Prisoner of Azkaban*, too. Sirius & Lupin are two of my favorite characters, and I thought the dementors were a really cool notion.

As for Wisconsin, I'm slowly yet surely getting settled. I'm hoping to have everything in order by the middle of September. If you guys want to come out some time in October, that would probably be good.
